Unusually, Australia is on its own calendar this year: the global event happened in late June, but Amazon AU pushed its sale to July after running its Mid-Year Sale in June.
Here is the honest version of what that means: seven days of “deals”, most of which are not deals. Prime Day pricing mixes genuine clearances with inflated strike-through prices, and the difference is invisible unless you know what the product actually sells for. How Prime Day pricing actually works
Three patterns repeat every year:
- Amazon’s own brands get the deepest real cuts. Echo speakers and displays, Ring cameras and doorbells, Blink cameras and eero mesh routers routinely drop 30-50% during Prime events. These are usually genuine discounts - Amazon uses its hardware as the loss-leader to sell Prime memberships.
- The big Chinese smart home brands price aggressively. Roborock, Dreame, ECOVACS, Eufy, Aqara and TP-Link all treat Prime Day as a market-share event in Australia. Robot vacuums see some of the largest dollar discounts of any category.

What rarely goes on sale
Save yourself the refresh-clicking on these:
- Apple current-generation hardware - small dollar amounts off at third-party retailers at best.
- Home Assistant Green and Yellow - community hardware with thin margins; it simply does not do sale events.
- Valve Steam Deck - sold directly by Valve in Australia, not via Amazon, so Prime Day does not touch it.

How to shop it without getting burned
- Shortlist first, then shop. Decide what you need before Tuesday. A deal on something you were not going to buy costs you 100% of the price.
